President's Report - Timothy Mulvenna
On May 1, 2024 we had a luncheon to honor former Branch 157 President, Former Region 12 National Business Agent, Former NALC Executive Vice President Timothy C. O'Malley. The event was a success and a long time in coming. Tim served Branch 157 as Vice President from 1985 to 1989. Then served as President from 1989 to 1998. Tim moved on to become the National Business Agent our region (Region 12) from 1998 to 2005. It was then that Tim was asked to work for our National NALC serving as the Director of Health Benefits from 2005 to 2010. In 2010 he became the Executive Vice President of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He served in that position until his retirement in 2016. After retirement Tim returned home to Philadelphia and has stayed active in the Branch attending meetings and taking the lead in many political functions. Tim was honored in 2022 as Branch 157 "Retiree of the Year" for his continued service to the branch.
The luncheon was highlighted by speeches from former officers of the branch including Lenny Edge, Timothy Whelan, and Paul Bush. All of these former officers had good stories and nothing but kind words to say about their former President. At the end of the luncheon the current officers presented Tim with a plaque in his honor and dedicated the building at 9607 James street in his name. Thanks Timothy O'Malley for all of your dedication, hard work and contributions to Branch 157 members and letter carriers across the country.
