As we turn the page on another year, l would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Officers, Shop Stewards and Letter Carriers in Branch 157 for their dedication to our employer, the USPS, our customers the American Public and your membership and support for our great union, the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Please remember to work safely each and every day. No matter what the expectations of management are, you have to take the time to work in a safe manner. With the coming of possible severe winter weather, make sure you take every possible precaution to insure that you are safe while delivering the mail. Dressing properly is an important solution to keeping safe this winter. Layering your clothes, protecting your face and extremities and staying dry are keys to being safe during the winter months.
With the swearing in of the new Congress this January, we will have to be ready to respond to any request we receive from NALC President Rolando concerning any issue pertaining to the USPS. I am sure we will have to be very active to try to influence Congress to pass good, comprehensive postal reform legislation. Please give serious consideration to donating to our unions political action fund, COLCPE. It will be very important for us to donate to our friends in Congress so that we can continue to maintain our very good middle class wages and benefits. Every Letter Carrier received COLA and contract increases this past year. Please donate $5.00 a pay to COLCPE by going to our website, nalc.org or call the branch office or my office for assistance. The job you help to save may be your own!
I am very humble, proud and excited to continue to work with the other 27 members of the NALC Executive Council to do our best to represent the greatest union members and Letter Carriers in the world! I will continue to work hard these next four years to earn your trust and Support.
