Dog Awareness Week
THIS IS DOG AWARENESS WEEK AND WE WERE ASKING THE COMMUNITY TO HELP US DELIVER THE MAIL TO THEM SAFELY. THIS EVENT IS TO BRING AWARENESS TO OUR CUSTOMERS ABOUT THE ISSUES WE FACE EVERYDAY DELIVERING THE MAIL TO THEM.
LETTER CARRIERS HAVE BEEN ATTACKED, THREATENED, BITTEN AND UNFORTUNATELY EVEN HAVE DIED FROM DOG ATTACKS.
THESE PICTURES ARE CARRIERS AT NORTH PHILLY WHO HAVE BEEN BITTEN BY DOGS IN THE LAST YEAR. THEY ARE WEARING BANDAGES REPRESENTING THE AREA WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN INJURED. LETASHA HALL WAS BITTEN FROM BEHIND BY A STRAY DOG, SHE HAD TO RECEIVE RABIES SHOTS. JUAN ARROYO WAS BITTEN FROM BEHIND,THE DOG PUSHED THE STORM DOOR OPEN. VINCENT BESCRIPT WAS BITTEN FROM BEHIND ALSO. THE DOG WAS HIDING IN BETWEEN TRASH BAGS.
ALL WE ARE ASKING IS FOR IS THE CUSTOMERS TO KEEP THEIR DOG IN THE HOUSE OR RESTRAINED WHILE WE ARE DELIVERING THEIR MAIL.
IF YOU SEE A STRAY OR ABANDONED ANIMAL PLEASE CONTACT ANIMAL CONTROL. THIS IS A GREAT PROGRAM THAT SHELTERS DOG’S AND OTHER ANIMALS AND PUTS THEM UP AT FOSTER HOMES AND UP FOR POSSIBLE ADOPTION. WE ALL LOVE OUR PETS THAT’S WHY THIS PROGRAM IS FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR LETTER CARRIERS AS WELL AS OUR PETS.
